The sassy sisters - St. Louis modern children's photography

I love fun sessions like this one!  These two sisters are so beautiful and have a great time every time they are in my O'Fallon portrait studio. 

For this session, Miss G. needed some rock star guitar portraits, and my new funky girls' only backdrop was the perfect match.  We started with a rock star make over, including up-dos for both girls.  We then pulled out the matching pink pettiskirts, a denim jacket and my child's size electric guitar.

Miss G. and Miss A. threw in their own amount of "America's Next Top Model", and a little bit of sass, for these wonderful modern and funky portraits.

Miss C. is a beautiful girl who needed just a little encouragement to feel really comfortable in front of the camera.  After a bit a make-up, my trusty fan and some laughing, she realized her inner model and lit up the camera.  What a great smile!

 

Sugar and spice at four years old! Children's portraits Wildwood, Missouri

This Wildwood beauty was back for her four year old portraits.  These portraits were all taken in her family home with my full studio set-up instead of making a trip to my studio in O'Fallon.  I enjoy Miss E. so much; she is one of the most polite young girls I've ever worked with.  She inspires me to instill better manners in my own little ones.

Ms. C is one of the most beautiful newborns I've had the pleasure to photograph.  And, after a very long run of newborn boys, I am happy to present a little pink!  If you still think portraits before a baby is two weeks old is just too early, take a look at these newborn moments you would miss.

This gorgeous young lady has such wonderful style and was so much fun to work with.  She even witnessed my trick of standing on a stool while holding a fan in one hand and taking a picture with the other.  No matter how silly I must look, the results are worth it!

Of course, you all know I love photographing young dancers.  This beautiful pre-teen ballet dancer has such lovely hands, head placement and grace.  As many young dancers do, she picked my pink classic tutu decorated in beaded and sequined appliques.  She was such a delight to photograph and chose a beautiful wall portrait for her room.

I plan to see this gorgeous dancer in a year or two for her pointe portraits.  There is nothing like celebrating those first pair of pointe shoes with a beautiful ballet portrait.

Every now and then I have a chance to have a bit of fun with my teen models and try something completely different.  These two dancers created their own make-up designs and posed for a fun creative session in addition to their traditional portrait sessions.

These beautiful sisters came into the studio for ballet portraits and recital portraits.  I love the look of beautiful girls in pink tulle!

It's been a busy summer of ballet portraits, recital portraits and competition portraits.  Remember, all the pink satin bodices and pink tutus are available to wear for costumed ballet portraits at the studio.  Wear our costumes, or bring your own recital and competition costumes for some of the best dance portraits in the area.

Have a wonderful Easter - j. thomas photography children's portraits

Our Easter portrait season is just about over, but if you didn't have time to schedule a session of your children in their Easter best, there is plenty of time after Sunday for your spring portrait.  I have a beautiful new hand painted background that blends with most every spring and Easter color that has been quite popular this season.  Also, as the weather warms and the flowers bloom, park portraits will be back in full swing!

I love watching all the ballerinas I photograph grow and refine their technique and love of dance.  Selfishly, my favorite ballet dancers are my own three children.

My oldest is now 13, and just sat for her yearly ballet portraits.  Remember, all costumes pictured on my blog and web site are available for your daughter's ballet portraits, or please bring your own costumes or casual dance clothing.  More costumes are arriving all the time, including these beautiful new pleated platter tutus.
